About the Museum of the Mountain Man
Since its founding in 1990, the Museum of the Mountain Man has been dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of the Rocky Mountain fur trade. Located in Pinedale, the Museum is operated by the Sublette County Historical Society in partnership with the county.
Rocky Mountain Fur Trade Journal
Published each July, this peer-reviewed journal explores the early 1800s fur trade in the Rocky Mountains. It provides researchers a platform to share new discoveries, insights, and ideas about this fascinating era.
Wreath & Chocolate Auction
Join us on the first Friday of December for one of the Museum’s most exciting fundraisers! Each year, individuals, organizations, and businesses create and donate unique wreaths, swags, and chocolate treats for the annual Wreath & Chocolate Auction.
Research & Library
Explore our extensive collection of rare and out-of-print books on the fur trade era. The Museum of the Mountain Man’s research library is open to scholars and history enthusiasts by appointment.
