Oliver Klingenstein

Oliver Klingenstein graduated from Bowdoin College with a double major in History and Environmental Studies. His academic focus was the history of the American West and Native American history, with an emphasis on how land use and policy shaped the region. He grew up riding and working horses, spending long days outside and learning the practical side of ranch life. Oliver now operates Darwin Ranch, a remote guest ranch located off Union Pass Road. He oversees daily operations, guest experience, and manages a herd of 40 horses in an off-grid backcountry environment. The history of the West is ever-present in his guest experience at the Darwin.

Vic McMurry

Vic McMurry was born and raised in Casper, Wyoming. After attending Casper College, he transferred to the University of Wyoming, graduating with a degree in Agriculture. He went into road construction with his brother, Mick; the two started and operated McMurry Brothers Construction. They were often in direct competition with their father, Neil’s business, Rissler and McMurry. Vic left Wyoming when their business expanded into Arizona. After the business was sold, Vic returned to Wyoming, moving to Pinedale, where he was an active partner in McMurry Oil, the company that commercially developed the Jonah Field and the Pinedale Anticline. From the proceeds of the sale of the fields, Vic and Mick invested in Sublette County, including the renovation and expansion of Half Moon Lake Resort. Vic and his wife, Robyn, established the Loving Hands Foundation, remembered for generously giving to the Sublette County Community. Vic’s passions for history included frequent visits to the Museum of the Mountain Man. His other passion is fly fishing, something he has passed on to his three children and several grandchildren.
